Donations

Great St Mary’s church is the only grade 1 listed building in Sawbridgeworth. We receive no regular income from the Church of England, the local council or other bodies. We are funded from donations, fund raising events and legacies.

The maintenance figures in 2023 were £213,797 and it costs us £4,000 a week to run. Our plans for the next five years include a large re-ordering and renovation programme to help ensure that Great St Mary’s is at the heart of the community for years to come.

Any help to keeping this magnificent 800 year old building open is most appreciated. As well as giving online there are other ways you can support the church’s work from setting up a standing order to leaving a legacy.
